I recently finished reading The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. Brazilian author Paulo Coelho is one of the world’s most popular spiritual writers.

The Alchemist is one of the best-selling books in history. A story of a shepherd boy and his inspirational journey.

Here are 10 powerful life lessons from this book.

1. We Want to Change Others!

We want other people’s life according to us. When someone sees the same people every day, they wind up becoming a part of that person’s life.

And then they want the person to change. If someone isn't what others want them to be, other become angry.

Everyone seems to have a clear idea of how other people should lead their lives, but none about his/her own.

2. Fate controls your life — world’s greatest lie!

What’s the world’s greatest lie?

It’s this: that at a certain point in our lives, we lose control of what’s happening to us, and our lives become controlled by fate. That’s the world’s greatest lie.

3. If you really want something — you’ll achieve it

When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.

4. You see the world as you are

We see the world in terms of what we would like to see happen. Not what actually does.

5. One true language of the universe is LOVE

There must be a language that doesn't depend on words. If we can learn to understand this language without words — one true language of the universe understand by everybody but already forgotten. Because people become fascinated with pictures and words, and wind up forgetting the language of the world.

6. A positive force is working for you

When we want something with all our heart. That’s when you’re closest to the soul of the world. It’s always positive force. Everything on earth is being continuously transformed because the earth is alive… and it has a soul. We’re part of that soul. So we rarely recognize that it’s working for us.

7. Love requires no explanation

Love is the pure language of the world. It requires no explanation. You must understand that love never keeps a man from pursuing his destiny. If he abandoned that pursuit, it’s because it wasn't the true love…

8. No reason is needed for loving

One is loved because one is loved. No reason is needed for loving.

9. People are afraid to pursue their dreams

People are afraid to pursue their most important dreams. Because they feel that they don’t deserve them, or that they’ll be unable to achieve them.

10. Fear of failure holds you back!

If a person is living out his destiny, he knows everything he needs to know. There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: The fear of failure.

Thanks for reading the story!
